Tara Stemmler joined Vouland in 2025 as a trainee lawyer.

She completed her PPI placement at the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, where she worked on complex criminal cases, often arising from sensitive matters.

In practice, she took part in the analysis of appeals to the Court of Cassation: a full review of the case files, identification of the legal arguments and verification of their soundness in the light of case law. She examined key questions such as:

– the validity of investigations and procedural acts (police custody, searches, wiretaps);
– the way offences are established (evidence, intent, legal classification);
– the quality of the reasoning in decisions handed down by the courts and courts of appeal.

This work enabled her to develop an essential reflex in criminal matters: quickly spotting what can weaken a procedure or, on the contrary, what makes it robust.

This experience now gives her a very practical approach to cases: she knows how to identify the sensitive points, anticipate risks and structure an analysis that serves the defence strategy.

Before that, she completed several placements at law firms specialising in criminal law, gaining practical experience in white-collar criminal law, general criminal law and press law, in both advisory and litigation work.
